When handling matters of importance or conflict, a written trail is necessary to document the conversation or issue.

If a discussion must be handled in person or over the phone, make sure there is another person present to  witness the exchange. In meetings, a recap of discussed items  via a memorandum is a great way to file and notate the covered material.

With written documentation, there marginal room for conflict or error. A file exists showcasing the path of the conversation.
