The dance industry is an ever evolving world- the changes are easier to navigate if we confidently know the true identity of our individual dance education and studio missions.
Because the industry is so varied (and dependent on varying compasses of morals and values), there may be a point where it feels as though your choices are “swimming upstream” from the masses.
Be confident in what you are doing- if it stems from your mission, it is on the right track, even if it isn’t “what everyone else is doing”.
When a paradigm shift is necessary, take time to thoroughly weigh all of the options and perspectives. Be prepared to communication the rationale. And, know that if it is fits your mission, it will work.
Remember, a dead fish can float downstream, but it takes a live one to swim upstream.
