Nearly a week ago, I discovered an app that revolutionized my accessibility and ease of playing music in my dance classes. At first, it seemed too good to be true, so I wanted to use it for a bit before I posted a review.
Now, the verdict is simple and exciting: if you do not have Spotify, you MUST download it as soon as possible!
The app offers endless access to an unbelievable musical library. Ballet music? Check. Broadway tunes? Check. Fresh Beat Band, Imagination Movers, and Dora the Explorer songs (aka creative music tunes)? Check. KidzBop? Check. All of the latest hit music? Check. Creative acoustic versions and remixes? Check. Classic rock and oldies? Check. We have tried numerous times to “stump” Spotify, and we have not succeeded.
The site streams music, so you do not have to worry about it using memory space on your device.
There are multiple subscription levels available (free trials are offered for everyone), and each level is super reasonably priced and worth the investment. I choose to use Spotify on my iPad; for unlimited access to music on my mobile device, the cost is $9.99/month. As long as I have Wi-Fi, I can access any song available on Spotify.
An added bonus? You can create Spotify playlists, so you can specify music for certain classes. Even better? You can share the playlists between staff members, easing the process of collaboration. If someone has to miss a class, the substitute instructor can access and share their Spotify playlist.
Just keep in mind if you need to burn the music to a CD or edit a track, the Spotify tracks will not download. However, for in-classroom use, I simply cannot reiterate the power of this product! If you are looking for a way to jump start your New Year, Spotify is the tool for you.
