When younger students are preparing to change studio rooms, leave a class, walk to the stage, etc., the easiest way to transition as a group is by making a dance train. I pull my arm like a whistle and go “Choo, Choo!”, and the students immediately know to line up. We offer reminders to place “gentle hands on gentle shoulders”, and before exiting the room, we collect an “imaginary ticket” from each student. Generally, the students are so excited, and they leave the room making train noises. We announce the dance train is coming, and parents love the cuteness of the train (and, I love the organization of it, too)!
