When teaching, it is great to stretch, condition, and dance with your students, but it is equally important to make sure they are fully engaged and properly using their bodies during all of the exercises.

Make sure your class knows that you (or an assistant) are constantly watching and looking for improvements. Apply this to every student in the class- from those that are front and center to the students that are in the back corners.

When students try to “cheat” or “fake” a skill, step, or exercise, it only damages their progress as a dancer.

This is important to constantly reiterate in class- make sure the students know that you can guide their advancement as dancers, but as Miss Eileen of BalletBarreNone promotes, “YOU (the student) are the Captain of your ship!”

Encourage the students to take responsibility for their success!
