Have you ever been accused of disliking a student? I’m always baffled when that’s the initial response to a situation. I do not dislike any of my clients- they are an essential part of our core business, and our opinions, recommendations, and critiques/corrections are rooted in progressing the child’s success. We want our students to achieve. We have no interest in holding them back for punitive or non-justifiable reasons.
The other day, I read an article that really spoke to me:
Close to Home: I Hate All of My Students Equally by Lynette Williamson
This is worth a read. While it is disheartening to see that this is happening in extracurricular activities and academics, it is not surprising. However, if we open our lines of communication to improve the awareness of response, we have the opportunity to make a positive change!
