A couple of moths ago, The Dance Exec featured Liz Vacco’s Petite Feet as an Applaudable Product. If you have not had a chance to read the review or explore the product, I highly encourage you to check it out. I tested it out on my younger students, and they absolutely love it!
Liz was able to take a moment to allow us to get to know her better. 🙂
Full Given Name: Elizabeth Sue Vacco
Where You Grew Up: Stow, MA- a very small town with apple orchards and a very popular golf course.
Favorite TV Show: Past Show: The Wire and Absolutely Fabulous, Currently: Breaking Bad
Great Read: Lolita and all of Nabokov, really. The Ice Storm by Rick Moody.
Currently on Your iPod: Besides lots of Scott Joplin and Laurie Berkner for my kids classes? M. Ward, the Cults, AA Bondy, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and always Blondie, Iggy Pop, Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra, Edith Piaf – I’ll stop there, but let’s just say it’s loaded with music.
Dance Inspirations: Hands down Pina Bausch
Memorable Dance/Career Moment: Dancing the Don Quixote pas de deux in high school, presenting my first evening length dance theater piece (Doesn’t Everybody Do It in Paris?) in NYC in 2010, getting emails from families from Japan to Kazakhstan to Sweden about how their children are further developing a love of dance through Petite Feet, the instructional dance video for kids I created
Advice to Dance Studio Owners & Dance Educators: Stay true to what you value and love about dance (for me that’s performing and storytelling through dance) and make that the defining and essential aspect of your program. You can’t go wrong when you’re being authentic.
