Do you allow your studio’s parents and/or teachers to post competition routines/choreography videos on social media during the competition and performance season?
We do not. Here’s why:
- The value of the live performance is enhanced when it is viewed and performed on stage via the medium in which it was intended (dance for stage vs. dance for film).
- It decreases the likelihood of replication and imitation.
- It preserves and respects the integrity of the choreographer, dancer(s), and performance.
Once the season has completely ended, parents may share solo videos of their dancers as they please. We still ask that they request permission to share any other video material so that we can be aware of where our routines are being posted at any given time.
