One of my wonderful dance colleagues first recommended that I read Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends & Influence People during my first year of owning the studio. I was encountering unexpected parental conflicts, and I turned to her for advice. It was probably another year before I actually bought and read the book, and my only regret is that I did not begin reading it the day of her recommendation. The book was first published in 1937, but it could not be more relevant.
When I completed the book, I considered it a game changer in how I interact with people and operate my business. Since reading How to Win…, I have read some of Carnegie’s other titles, and I have found them all to be helpful, motivating, and inspiring.
