In the vocabulary of acrobatics, the execution of movements are often called “tricks”. Over the past few years, the language has shifted towards calling the movements “skills”.

A quick Google search, provides the following definitions:

Trick: a cunning or skillful act or scheme intended to deceive or outwit someone.

Skill:the ability to do something well; expertise

Based on the definitions, a skill much more accurately describes a controlled, power, or contortion based acrobatic move.

Though language habits are difficult to change, this is a positive shift that gives the proper credit to our students and their acrobatic talents!
