Students love having the opportunity to critique themselves. It raises their self-awareness and holds them accountable for their strengths and weaknesses.
In private lessons, whether a student is working on a routine or a skill, we will set up a chart on our white board with a “great job” column and a “needs improvement” column. We will discuss why certain items fall into a respective column, and we work towards fixing the issues. The students are motivated to have everything fall under the “great job” column.
Having a visual track record of the lesson is an effective and productive teaching tool- the students love watching their progress from week to week!
