We have all heard the term Helicopter Parent (and maybe even experienced it), but, just yesterday, I heard about a new type of parenting, a more aggressive type of Helicopter Parent, The Lawnmower Parent. While both articles use the terms in relation to the educational environment, the character traits of both can easily transfer over to the dance studio environment.

Once you read the article, I am confident you can identify and relate to similar behaviors and situations in your studio.

For well-established studios, how have parents evolved in the dance studio environment? How are you adjusting to these new models of parenting? Does it impact or interfere with your ability to teach?

For new studios, have you noticed a dynamic that is different from the environment in which you trained? How are you managing and adjusting?
